Laura Gemser

Laura Gemser (born October 5 1950, Java, Indonesia) is an erotic actress and is generally accepted as one of the 1970s most famous erotic icons. She is sometimes credited as Moira Chen, Laura M. Gemser or Laurette Marcia Gemser.

After modelling in various magazines in the Netherlands, Gemser began to take part in some soft erotic films, including a number of Emanuelle films in the 1980s. Mostly these films were shown at late night on the Cinemax cable channel in the USA. Indeed, the frequency with which the Emanuelle films shown on Cinemax led to the channel by dubbed "Skinemax" by late-night television watchers, an allusion to that channel's prediliction for showing low budget, softcore pornograhic films, usually after midnight. For most adolescents in the 80s, Laura was the probably the most popular starlet amongst the teenage boys who couldn't legally rent or purchase the films She subsequently became internationally recognised after playing in several "Black Emanuelle" films. Although she appeared in numerous hardcore titles, she always had simulated sex. The "notorious" scenes in Black Emanuelle are hardcore inserts, athough the version of that film aired on cable has edited out the majority of such scenes.

Most of her films were directed by Joe d'Amato, and they are now regarded as samples of the Italian erotic/horror cult films. Some of her films are Emmanuelle 2 (1975), Black Emanuelle (1975), Eva nera (1976), Emanuelle in America (1976) and Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals (1977), and ' (1981).

Gemser, in conjunction with an American film crew, provided costume design and coordination for the 1990 film Troll 2. The movie, as well as the customing, was widely mocked by syndicated ]s, and it has been on quite a few "worst movies of all time" lists since its release. Some have even gone on to say that the film's customs appear to have been plumdered from Gemser's director's grandparents' closet. The film, which was not widely seen and doesn't follow its preque, (Troll, 1986 film), as absolutely nothing to allude to or even seem to bear any resembences to Troll at all. Troll 2 ranks at #21 on the IMDb "bottom 100 films" list (as of 2005).
