LaSalle, Ontario
LaSalle, a town in southwestern Ontario, is situated in Essex County. It is on the border of the Detroit River and is south of the City of Windsor. The population of Lasalle was 25,285 in the 2001 Canadian census. LaSalle, along with Windsor, is the oldest French settlement area in southwestern Ontario, and oldest continually inhabited European settlement in Canada west of the Quebec border. Now considered to be a bedroom community of Windsor, Tecumseh is often cited as an example of Urban Sprawl; tracts of Canada's most valuable agricultural land has been covered by unsustainable development.
