Lamon Brewster

"Relentless" Lamon Tajuan Brewster (b. June 5 1973, Indianapolis, Indiana) is an American heavyweight boxer, and the current holder of the World Boxing Organization version of the world heavyweight title. His record as of 22 May 2005 consisted of 32 wins (28 by knockout) and 2 defeats (to Clifford Etienne and Charles Shufford, respectively).

On February 2, 2002, Brewster knocked out Nate Jones to win the North American Boxing Organization title, placing him as a mandatory challenge for the WBO world championship. In October 2003, WBO champion Corrie Sanders relinquished the title rather than face Brewster, setting the stage for Brewster to face highly-regarded former WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko who is the younger brother of the current WBC world heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko.

On April 10, 2004, Brewster knocked out Wladimir Klitschko in the fifth round to win the vacant WBO world heavyweight belt. However many regard this win as a fraud because of all the controversy involved in the fight. Right before the fight the ratings for Wladimir were dropped from a 11:1 to a 4:1 favorite. After the fight Wladimir was brought to hospital where they took blood samples because of the suspicion that Wladimir was drugged in the fight for he had extremely high levels of blood sugar. Before they could be analysed, the several blood samples disappeared in an unexplainable way.

His first defense was a hotly disputed split decision win over lightly regarded Kali Meehan and his second defense came on May 21, 2005 when he knocked down Andrew Golota three times to score a TKO win in just 53 seconds to retain his title.

Brewster has two kids with his wife and one from his previous relationship. He has two girls and a boy. Brewster is a devout christian to the point that he even asked the people at a press conference to pray for him for an upcoming bout. He is also the cousin of the current IBF Champion Chris Byrd who is very religious too.
