Laetoli


 
 

The Lower Paleolithic site of Laetoli in Tanzania is famous for its human footprints, preserved in volcanic ash (Site G). The site is located 45 km south of Olduvai.

This is a picture or the footprints preserved at the site. Note that the heel most likely struck first and then the big toe was used to push off, like modern humans.
