Lacoste, Vaucluse
Lacoste ({{coor dm|43|50|N|5|16.35|E|type:city_region:FR}}) is a small, medieval town and commune in the Provence in Southern France. It belongs to the Vaucluse département and has some 400 inhabitants.

Lacoste is probably best known for its most notorious resident, the Marquis de Sade, who in the 18th century lived for a while in the castle overlooking the village.

The castle was destroyed in an uprising in 1792. In the 1990s, the ruins along with attached quarrys were bought by fashion designer Pierre Cardin, and since 1994 various theatre pieces have been performed there.

The Marquis fancied Lacoste as a destination for thespians, which has in some small part become true. An art school was founded there in the 1970's and today is part of the Savannah College of Art and Design.
