La Défense

La Défense is a district of high-rise offices, apartment blocks and shopping complexes over part of the communes of Nanterre, Courbevoie and Puteaux (all in the Hauts-de-Seine d?partement), to the west of Paris.

At the western end near the Grande Arche is a large transport interchange, including a M?tro and RER station (the terminus of M?tro Line 1), a railway station (which predates the modern development) and stations for buses and the T2 tram line. The M?tro's Line 1 also has a station at the eastern end, closer to Paris, Esplanade de la D?fense.
