Kyo (musician)

Kyo (京) is the stagename of a Japanese artist belonging to the group Dir en grey. He was born 16 February 1976 in Kyoto. There is much debate to his birth name, but most accept it to be Nishimura Tooru (西村 亨). At age fifteen he chose to forego High School and instead began a career in music. When he was eighteen he moved from his home to Osaka where he met his current bandmates. He remains partially deaf in his left ear after a prolonged sickness in 2000.
