Kirsten Cohen

Kirsten Cohen (nèe Nichol) is a fictional character on FOX series The OC, played by Kelly Rowan. Kirsten is the eldest daughter of real estate developer Caleb Nichol, and married Sandy sometime during her rebellious twenties (she states that when they fell in love she "lived in a mailtruck and stank of patchouli"). She has since joined her father at the Newport Group, and is somewhat of a workaholic.

During the first season, Kirsten had to deal with suddenly having another child, and a difficult one at that. The problems began for her during the second season when she feared that her husband was cheating on her wtih an old girlfriend. Sandy and Kirsten's marriage began to deteriorate, and she tured to alcohol to deal. Her alcoholism was fueled by working closely with a man that she had a crush on that also drank too much. Towards the end of the second season she crashed her car while driving drunk and caused a scene at her father's funeral, and following an intervention, was checked into rehab.
