King Diamond

King Diamond (born Kim Bendix Petersen, June 14, 1956, Denmark) is a musician. This former football player's first band was Black Rose. In 1980, he formed Mercyful Fate, a group that to a large extent pioneered the genre of black metal because of the group's stage presence, make-up and occult lyrics, although its musical style is somewhere around heavy metal, power metal, and progressive. Diamond is renown for his wide octave range, varying from low to a very high falsetto. On stage Diamond uses a trademark microphone stand consisting of two femur bones in the shape of an inverted cross. He also used to wear a makeup similar to that of Gene Simmons from Kiss. He was sued because of this and has since changed the design.
