Kick Off

A kick-off (or kickoff) is a method of starting and restarting play in a number of sports, including:

• Association football (soccer)
• American and Canadian football
• Rugby football

By derivation kick-off also means the commencement of a project or an event, as if the project was like a football match and when the ball got kicked off the match started.
