Kent School

Kent School is an independent (private) co-ed prep school in Kent, Connecticut, established in 1906 by The Reverend Frederick Herbert Sill, a member of the monastic Order of the Holy Cross. It has 550 students, of whom about 93% are boarders. Kent's mascot is the Lion, and its motto is Temperantia, Fiducia, Constantia, a not-quite-accurate Latin translation of "Simplicity of Life, Directness of Purpose, Self-Reliance." It is located in a picturesque setting between the Appalachian Trail and the Housatonic River with mountains rising behind its playing fields.

History

In 1960, a girls' campus was constructed a few miles up the hill from the grounds. In 1992, campus consolidation was completed and the girls now have dorms on main campus.
