Kathy Kirby's star faded in the late sixties: she recorded 12 singles and an album between 1967 and 1973, but none were hits. She appears to have had some personal problems in the 1970s including a personal bankruptcy in 1977. Despite this, which she paid off, and the fact that her family totally ostracised her, she has survived.

During the late seventies, Kathy Kirby virtually retired from showbusiness but during the eighties she returned with the occasional recording and made several television appearances. Later still she resurfaced as a star of the "nostalgia circuit".
