Kassel (until 1926 officially Cassel) is a city situated along the Fulda River, one of the two sources of the Weser river, in northern Hesse in west-central Germany. It is the administrative seat of the Kassel administrative region (Regierungsbezirk) and of the district (Kreis) of the same name. The city has 194,146 inhabitants (2003) and covers an area of 106.77 square kilometers. Geographic location {{coor dm|51|18|N|9|30|E|}}.

Transportation

Kassel is one of the few German cities still to be running tram-trains.
