Kasey Kahne (born April 10, 1980 in Enumclaw, Washington) is a stock car racing driver for the Evernham Motorsports team in NASCAR's Nextel Cup series with teammates Jeremy Mayfield and Bill Elliott. He currently drives the #9 Dodge Charger, which is sponsored by Dodge Dealers/UAW. He replaced veteran Bill Elliott in the #9 Dodge at the end of 2003 when Elliott announced a part-time schedule starting with the 2004 season. In 2004, Kahne surprised many by nearly winning several races (including five second-place finishes and 13 top-fives) and easily capturing the Raybestos Rookie of the Year award. He scored his first career Nextel Cup victory in his sophomore season of 2005, after a dominating performance in the Chevy American Revolution 400 at Richmond International Raceway. This was also the first win for the new Dodge Charger in Nextel Cup. He won four poles in 2004, and scored two more poles in back-to-back weeks at Darlington and Richmond in 2005. Kasey is also a part time Busch Series driver, dividing his time between driving the #38 Great Clips Dodge for Akins Motorsports and the #6 and #79 Dodges for Evernham Motorsports. He has won two Busch Series races in his career. He has also made two starts in the Craftsman Truck Series, winning both events.
