Kamacuras
Kamacuras (????? - Kamakirasu), or Kamakiras, is a large mutant praying mantis from the Godzilla series, debuting in the film Son of Godzilla (1967) (in the English version of which they were called Gimantis, a cross between "giant" and "mantis"). The monster is named after the Japanese word for "praying mantis" (?? - kamakiri). ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ A race of human-sized mantis' residing on Solgell Island, the Kamacuras were ballooned to giant size when a weather experiment went horribly wrong, resulting in a radioactive storm. The Kamacuras soon uncovered a gigantic egg, and immediately began to break it open. They eventually broke through its shell, spilling out a small reptile. This creature was actually Minya, whose cries attracted Godzilla. Godzilla soon made short work of the Kamacuras, seemingly killing all but one. This final Kamacuras battled Minya later on, but was again driven off by Godzilla. It later encountered Kumonga, but was easily overpowered by the massive spider. He was apparently killed by Kumonga's poisonous stinger, but at least one Kamacuras survived and ended up as an inmate on Monster Island. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Over thirty years later, Kamacuras to the screen in ' (2004). As a part of the Xiliens' invasion, Kamacuras attacked Paris, France, and battled the mighty battleship, the Eclair. He was eventually teleported away by the Xiliens in an attempt to look like they had vanquished the giant mantis, but once their true colors were discovered, Kamacuras was returned to Paris to finish his rampage. When Godzilla was awoken, Kamacuras was sent to Kanto, Japan to fight him. The fight didn't last long, as when Kamacuras rocketed towards Godzilla, the reptile quickly grabbed the mantis and tossed him away, impaling Kamacuras on a high-tension tower. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
