Kalgoorlie, Western Australia
Kalgoorlie ({{coor dm|30|45|S|121|27|E|region:AU-WA_type:city(35000)}}) is a large Western Australian mining town located about 600 km east of Perth. Its current approximate population is 35,000. The name Kalgoorlie is derived from the local Aboriginal expression Karlkurla (pronounced gull-gull-la), meaning "place of the silky pears".
