Juazeiro


 
 

Juazeiro (or Ju?zeiro) is a city in eastern Brazil in the state of Bahia. It has a population of 198,065, according to the 2004 census, and has an area of 6,389 km2. Although it sits along the S?o Francisco River and the Cura?? River, the city is semi-desert and gets an annual precipitation of only 399 mm.

It was founded in 1833 and became a city on July 15 1878. Its annual average temperature is 24.2 ?C. Its city districts are Ab?bora, Carna?ba, Itamotinga, Junco, Juremal, Massaroca, and Pinh?es.

This city should not be confused with Juazeiro do Piau? or Juazeiro do Norte, also cities in Brazil.
