Joseph Pellegrino University Professor

The position of Joseph Pellegrino University Professor is the most distinguished position a Harvard University professor can attain. University Professorships were first created in 1935 for professors with exceptional cross-discipline, groundbreaking research. It was renamed after a grant from Joseph Pellegrino in 1992. As of 1998, there were 18 such professors at Harvard.
