Joseph Isaac Schneersohn
Joseph Isaac Schneersohn (or Yosef Yitzchok Schneersohn) (also known as the Friyerdikker Rebbe ("Previous Rebbe" in Yiddish) or Rayatz) (1880 - 1950) was the sixth Rebbe (rabbi) of the Chabad Lubavitch Hasidic Judaism movement. After many years of fighting to keep Judaism alive in the Soviet Union, he was forced into exile, which eventually brought him to the United States after spending some years in Poland. He was the father-in-law to the last and most famous Rebbe Rabbi Menachem Mendel Shneerson.
