Jorma Kaukonen

Jorma Kaukonen (born December 23, 1940 in Washington, D.C.) is an American blues, folk and rock guitarist. He was a founding member of Jefferson Airplane but Jorma Kaukonen and Airplane's bassist eventually left the band to form Hot Tuna, which started out as a vehicle for Kaukonen to show off his considerable Acoustic Blues fingerpicking skills. Jorma's beginning were backing a young Janis Joplin; his most famous solo record was Quah (1974) in which he plays one of the best fingerpicking session ever, according to fingerpickers, together with Tom Hobson. He currently owns and operates the Fur Peace Ranch, a music and guitar camp in the hills of southeast Ohio.
