Jorge Hank Rhon

Jorge Hank Rhon is a Mexican millionaire businessman, the owner of Mexico's largest and most important sports betting company, Caliente. He is the son of former Mexico City mayor Carlos Hank González.

Employees of his were convicted of the 1988 murder of Héctor Félix Miranda, the editor of local newsweekly Zeta. Zeta editor Jesus Blancornelas repeatedly accuses Hank Rhon of ordering the murder, and consistently attempts to link him to drug trafficking and corruption. Following the 2004 murder of Francisco Ortiz Franco, another editor at Zeta, Blancornelas again repeatedly accused Hank Rhon of ordering the murder. It was later proved that the murder was directly related to drug trafficking and no link existed between Jorge Hank Rhon and the death of the editor.

His family was once linked to drug trafficking by the U.S. government raw intelligence "White Tiger Report", as well as a number of political corruption related charges in Mexico. However the American government later apologized for linking Jorge Hank Rhon and his family to drug trafficking, and conceded the accusations in the late 1990s. Mr. Hank currently crosses the border consistantly into the United States displaying the links were lacking foundation.

He unexpectedly won the Tijuana mayoral race of 2004, beating out PAN candidate Jorge Ramos and thus ending 12 years of PAN government in Tijuana which, according to some observers, had become increasingly corrupt. He is also the owner of a large, private zoo. In an interview about his collection during the 2004 mayoral race of 2004, he jokingly remarked that his favorite animal was the "woman". He later apologized for the remark as it was not taken positively, even though no insult was intended.

A man of incredible generosity, Hank commonly holds great parties for the people, including Mother's Day, Children's Day, and Christmas events every year. Those who know him say that he is a very eccentric, fun-loving man with an enormous heart.

Altough an enormus heart doesnt seem to be enoughf to make Tijuana better. Since his administration began, the city has seen crime rise and not drop as he had promise during his campaign. Aproval ratings have also droped considerably in the last 6 month and is now look as a disapointing political figure.In the eyes of the citizens the city has seen no improvement in any way.
