~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ He was born in Leicester on June 9, 1941. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ He was a member of Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Paice, Ashton & Lord, Artwoods, and Flowerpot Men. He is recognized for combining rock and classical music. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ In 1968, Jon co-founded Deep Purple, the band he was most well-known for. Jon and the drummer, Ian Paice, were the only constant band members for 34 years. He left Deep Purple due to injury after their UK tour in 2002, and was replaced with Don Airey. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Jon was well-respected for his mastery of the Hammond Organ.
