John Strasberg
Multitalented son (actor, director, master teacher, producer, designer, writer), the last living member of the original Strasberg's, son of the late Lee and Paula (Miller) Strasberg, central figures in the Group Theater and the Actors Studio, and the brother of the late actress Susan Strasberg. He has had an international career, over 45 years (in 2005), winning awards for productions of Shakespeare, Ibsen, O'Neill, Odets, Aristophanes, etc. His teaching, the Organic Creative Process, is a revolutionery training, going beyond the systems and methods of Stanislavsky and his father. He discovered the laws at the foundation of the creative process, explained in his book, Accidentally on Purpose: Reflections on Life, Acting, and the Nine Natural Laws of Creativity. His teaching develops each person's individual creative process, their talent, imagination, spontaneity, and capacity to use real thought to become deeply involved in an imaginary world, and to feel more deeply. He works six months a year in New York, and the rest of the year, in Europe, Canada, and South America. He speaks and works in English, French and Spanish. In the 1970's he worked at the National Film Board of Canada, was executive director of the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute, and acted and directed. In the 1980's, he co-founded The Mirror Repertory Company in New York. His former acting school John Strasberg's The Real Stage, had brances in New York and Paris. In the late 1980's and 1990's, he lived and worked in Europe. Currently, John Strasberg Studios operates in New York, Paris, and Montreal.
