John Spence
John Spence (2 February 1969–21 December 1987) was a founding member of the band No Doubt, along with Eric and Gwen Stefani. Spence, who came up with the band's name, shared lead vocals with Gwen. He committed suicide by gunshot in a parking lot in Anaheim, California in December 1987, early in No Doubt's existence, and therefore never appeared on any of the band's albums. After his death, Gwen Stefani took over all lead vocals, and she is the only original member remaining in the band. (Eric Stefani quit in 1994 to become an animator for "The Simpsons".)
