He studied violin, piano, and conducting in Italy. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ He was known for his interpretations of Mozart operas and for his support of contemporary music. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ He died in Daly City, California. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
