John Leech (politician)
John Leech (born 11 April 1971) is the Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for Manchester Withington. He was elected at the 2005 general election, defeating Keith Bradley of the Labour Party with a swing of nearly 20%. He is the first Liberal or Liberal Democrat to win a Manchester seat since 1929.

John currently lives in Whalley Range with his long term partner Catherine, 29, they have no children. John formerly worked at RAC in Stockport as an insurance claims handler (part time) and is an amateur dramatics enthusiast (Manchester Road Players). His father is a Methodist minister.

John went to Manchester Grammar School, Loretto College (Moss Side) and Brunel University where he studied for a history and politics degree. At university John joined the Liberal Democrats.
