John Hays Hammond, Jr.


 

John Hays Hammond, Jr. (13 April 188812 February 1965) was an American inventor, and son of mining engineer John Hays Hammond. Hammond was introduced to Thomas Edison who introduced him to Alexander Graham Bell, and under the latter's guidance Hammond worked in the U.S. Patent Office. In 1910, he graduated from Yale University. In 1911 he founded the Hammond Radio Research Laboratory, and went on to develop and patent the radio control. In total he is credited with 437 patents and over 800 inventions.
