Johann Rall


 

Colonel Johannn Rall (alt. Rahl) was the commander of the Hessian troops at the Battle of Trenton. He contributed to American independence by ignoring or underestimating repeated intelligence warnings that an American attack was on its way. He was mortally wounded in the battle while trying to organize an orderly retreat.
