Joe Simon
Joseph H. "Joe" Simon (born 1915) was a comic book author and cartoonist who created or co-created many memorable characters in the Golden Age. He worked extensively with Jack Kirby, with whom he co-created Captain America for Timely Comics (now Marvel), one of the most enduring superhero characters. He also created (or co-created) the Fighting American, The Fly, and (for DC Comics) the 1940s Sandman and Sandy the Golden Boy, the Newsboy Legion, Boy Commandos, and Manhunter.

His non-fiction prose book The Comic Book Makers (co-written with his son Jim Simon) is an autobiographical history of the mid-20th century comics industry.
