He attended local schools and the University of Alberta, where he earned a bachelor's and a master's degree in political science. He studied law at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, British Columbia. He was active in student politics, and left law school to work full time for the Progressive Conservative Party. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Clark is married to Maureen McTeer, a well-known author and lawyer.
