A scientist renowned for his genius, Joachim Mizrahi, former husband to Juli Mizrahi, died in T.C. 4753, the year the Miltian Conflict began. The Galaxy Federation benefited greatly from his contributions, as his numerous research findings played a large part in the Federation's growth. Mizrahi is also the founder of the U-TIC Organization. Many people believe that he is responsible, at around the time of his death, for the appearance of the Gnosis, a hyperdestructive alien race from another dimension. It is also very possible that by the time he died he was completely insane. Despite his many achievements, many figures in the Xenosaga series dismiss Mizrahi and his accomplishments as the psychotic precursor to the destruction of the human race.

His name, like many other things in the Xenosaga series, is a reference to Judeo-Christian mythos. His first name corresponds to the name of the Jewish king Joachim (also spelled Jehoiakim) which translates ?he who is established by God?. In the Catholic canon Joachim is the grandfather of Christ. It seems likely that the first reference is the one intended by the game?s designers because of similarities between the lives and deaths of the two. The Joachim, the Jewish king, was thrown over the top of wall of Jerusalem to prove to the attacking army he was dead; Joachim the scientist was thrown from the top of a building for perhaps similar reasons.

His last name is an obvious reference to the Mizrahi Jews. The intentions behind this reference aren?t clear.

Mizrahi was apparently quite familiar with the Bible as evidenced by his quotation from the book of Revelations reveals. He also seems to have also had a belief in the importance of good deeds since he repeatedly told MOMO that good deeds could make her human. In , it is revealed that Mizrahi was framed by the Immigrant Fleet as the man responsible for the Miltian Conflict, though he is perhaps the man most responsible for minimizing the damage.

Mizrahi's research paved the way for the 100 Series Observational Realian, who are capable of creating the Hilbert Effect which materializes the Gnosis so they can be engaged with conventional means. Perhaps his greatest contribution is the Y-Data, which he sealed away in MOMO. This data is the key to Old Miltia and the Zohar that sleeps there. It also contains all of his research on the Zohar and the Gnosis. In the end, though Mizrahi tried to prevent the destruction of the universe, he was branded a madman by history because of the Immigrant Fleet.
