Jerry Burns
Jerry Burns is a former football coach mostly remembered for being head coach of the Minnesota Vikings.

Burns played college football at the University of Michigan from 1947-51. He began his coaching career at the University of Hawaii then Whittier College, He was an assistant coach at the University of Iowa then the head coach there from 1961-65. He also was an assistant coach of the Green Bay Packers from 1966 to 67.

Burns was named the 4th head coach in team history on January 7, 1986, succeeding Bud Grant and Les Steckel (Steckel only coached for one season, and Grant—the team's second coach—briefly came out of retirement after that). He served as the Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator from 1968-85, when the team won 11 division titles and played in 4 Super Bowls. Burns retired from coaching after the 1991 NFL season, and he was replaced as Vikings coach by Dennis Green.
