Throughout their history, their beliefs, doctrines and practices have met controversy and opposition from the local governments, communities, or religious groups. Many Christian denominations consider the interpretation and doctrines of Jehovah's Witnesses to be Heresy. In addition, governments in the past have considered the religion as a subversive organization. See the article Opposition to Jehovah's Witnesses.
