~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Jason White (born June 19, 1980) was a quarterback for the University of Oklahoma football team (1999-2004). ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ He won the Heisman Trophy in 2003. He was also a finalist for the award in 2004, trying to become just the second player after Archie Griffin to win the honor twice, but lost to USC quarterback Matt Leinart. White finished his collegiate career as the University of Oklahoma's all-time leader in career passing yards(7,768) and touchdown passes(79). Despite all of White's success at Oklahoma, his career was characterized by his inability to win big games. In his final game at Oklahoma, White quaterbacked an Oklahoma team that was trounced by the University of Southern California, 55-19, in the Orange Bowl game on January 4, 2005. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Made a remarkable comeback from consecutive anterior cruciate ligament tears and reconstructive knee surgeries on both knees during both the 2001 and 2002 seasons. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Jason was raised, and played high school football, in Tuttle, Oklahoma. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The Tennessee Titans of the NFL signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2005, but he decided to retire from professional football shortly after the beginning of training camp due to knee problems. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
