Janet Munro

Janet Munro (28 September 1934 – 6 December 1972) was a British actress.

Born Janet Neilson Horsburgh, the daughter of Scottish comedian Alex Munro (real name Alexander Horsburgh), in Blackpool, she used her father's stage name professionally.

Janet Munro starred in three Disney motion picture releases, Darby O'Gill and the Little People (1959), Third Man on the Mountain (1959) and Swiss Family Robinson (1960), as well as The Horsemasters (1961), which aired on Disney's weekly television series. Other film credits include science fiction films such as The Crawling Eye (1958) (released as The Trollenberg Terror in the UK) and The Day the Earth Caught Fire (1961).

In 1960, Munro won a Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year ? Actress, and in 1962 was nominated for BAFTA Award for Best British Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in Life for Ruth (released as Walk in the Shadow and Condemned to Life in the United States).
