Jan de Hartog
Jan de Hartog (22 April 1914 in Haarlem, Netherlands - 22 September 2002 in Houston, Texas) was a Dutch playwright, novelist and occasional social critic who moved to the United States in the early 1960s.

Hartog's historical memorial The Hospital (1964), which exposed the horrid conditions of Houston's charity hospital in the 1960's, led to significant reforms of that city's indigent healthcare system.
