History

The City of Jamestown was incorporated in 1886. The city has been a center for manufacture of wood products such as furniture. Although much of this industry has migrated away from the area in recent times, Jamestown still retains a few large factories for companies such as MRC, a bearings manufacturer, Cummins, makers of diesel engines, and Bush Industries, which produces ready-to-assemble office furniture.
