Vaughan rose through Everton's youth academy, and made his first-team debut as a substitute against Crystal Palace on April 10, 2005. At the age of 16 years 271 days he became the youngest player in the history of Everton (beating the long standing record set by Joe Royle by 11 days), and quickly scored a goal that made him the youngest scorer in the history of the Premier League. Vaughan has also appeared (and scored) for the England Under-17 team.
