James Pinckney Pope (1884-1966) was a mayor of Boise, Idaho, and a United States Senator from Idaho.

Pope was born in Jonesboro, Louisiana, in 1884. He graduated from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in 1906 and from the law department of the University of Chicago in 1909. He then moved to Boise, Idaho, to practice law, and served as city attorney of Boise, assistant attorney general of Idaho, and a member of the board of education of Boise.

He served as mayor of Boise from 1929 to 1933. He was elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate in 1932, and served one term before being defeated for the Democratic nomination in 1938.

He was appointed a director of the Tennessee Valley Authority by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1939 and served until 1951. He continued to practice law and serve on several boards in Tennessee after that. He died in Alexandria, Virginia in 1966, and was buried in Knoxville, Tennessee.
