James Leo Herlihy

James Leo Herlihy (27 February 1927-21 October 1993) was an American novelist, best known for Midnight Cowboy.

He also wrote the novel All Fall Down, which was also adapted for the screenplay of the film of the same name. Other works include The Season of the Witch and a number of short stories.

He was an occasional actor ('Blue Denim'). He died by suicide on 1993.
