James Bolam

James Bolam (born June 16 1938 in Sunderland England) is a British actor, perhaps best known for his portrayal of Terry Collier in the BBC sitcoms "The Likely Lads" and "Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?".

Much like his fellow 'likely lad' Rodney Bewes, Bolam was trained in London and first appeared on screens in the early 1960s, in shows such as "Z Cars" and the gritty Northern movies "A Kind Of Loving" and "The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner".

After The Likely Lads ended in 1966, Bolam himself adapted the shows for BBC radio, and then went onto appear in several movies and shows before the lads returned in 1973. Since then, Bolam has appeared in many films and television series, such as "The Beiderbecke Affair'", "Only When I Laugh", "New Tricks", "When the Boat Comes In", "Midsomer Murders", "Born and Bred" (playing Dr. Arthur Gilder) and the title role in "Andy Capp".

He is currently appearing in Frank Loesser's musical "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" at the Chichester Festival Theatre.

He is married to the actress Susan Jameson and they have a daughter.
