(Malachi 1:2–3, "...I loved Jacob, and I hated Esau...") ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ He purchased the birthright from his brother Esau for a pot of soup, and his wife Rachel from his uncle Laban in return for seven years labour.
