In 1973 Jackie followed his brothers and made a solo record. The album titled "Jackie Jackson" did not succeed like those of Michael or Jermaine. It was not even charted. In following years he continued to work with his brothers in what became The Jacksons. He was a brother who never left the family band from Jackson 5 early days right through to "2300 Jackson Street" in 1989. Also in 1989 Jackie released his second solo effort called "Be the One". This album still performed poorly in comparison to his brothers but substansually better than his previous album. It reached number 84 on the R&B Billboard Charts. Two singles were released from the album: 'Stay' reached number 39 on the charts and 'Cruzin' went to number 58.
