Jackie Collins

Jacqueline Jill "Jackie" Collins, British-born romantic novelist (born on October 4 1937 in London, UK), and the younger sister of Joan Collins and elder sister of much-younger brother, William Collins, Jr. (born in 1946).

Although she claims to have been born in 1941, she was expelled from school at the age of 15 in 1952, (and entered into her first marriage in 1955), thus putting her year of birth at 1937.

She has been married twice, and had 3 daughters with her second husband, Oscar Lerman, who died in the early 1990s of cancer; ironically her future fianceé, Frank Calcagnini, would also die of cancer, as had her mother, so she has been severely affected by this horrific disease.

Her first success came in 1969 and after publishing some 20 books in the past 35 years she has gone on to sell some 400 million books in over 20 languages.

A UK newspaper the, Daily Mail, claimed she was worth a reputed £100 million (US$190 million) in February 2004.
