Jack (Nonpareil) Dempsey

John Edward Kelly (December 15, 1862 - November 11895), County Kildare, Ireland. Better known as Jack (Nonpareil) Dempsey. Generally considered boxing's first middleweight champion. Fought at least 68 times, with a record of 47 wins, 3 losses, and 10 draws, with 10 knockouts. Though he's considered boxing's first middleweight champion, Dempsey never fought above 152. The middleweight limit wouldn't be set at 160 until Bob Fitzsimmons took the title from him in 1891. Was knocked out by Tommy Ryan in 3 rounds in his last bout and died that same year at the age of 32.
