Jack Lynch
John (Jack) Mary Lynch (Irish name Seán Ó Loingsigh) (August 15, 1917-October 20, 1999), was the fourth Taoiseach of the Republic of Ireland, serving two terms in office; 1966 to 1973 and 1977 to 1979.

Lynch was first elected to Dáil Éireann as a Teachta Dála for Cork in 1948, and was re-elected at each election until his retirement in 1981. He previously served as Minister for Finance (1965-1966), Minister for Industry & Commerce (1959-1965), Minister for Education (1957-1959), Minister for the Gaeltacht (1957) and a Parliamentary Secretary. He was the third leader of Fianna Fáil from 1966 until 1979, succeeding the hugely influential Seán F. Lemass. Lynch was also a successful hurling and Gaelic football star, winning All-Ireland medals for both sports.
