J.A.P.
The Prestwich Manufacturing Company, founded by the engineer John Alfred Prestwich (hence J.A.P), produced internal combustion engines and other examples of precision engineering.

These were used in many famous motorcycle marques and other devices powered by small engines eg cultivators, chainsaws. The motorcycle engines were associated with racing success and JAP engines were still used in speedway bikes well into the 1960s.
