Ivan IV (Ivan Vasilyevich) (August 25, 1530 – March 18, 1584) was the first ruler of Russia to assume the title of tsar. This tsar retains his place in the Russian folk tradition simply as Ivan the Terrible {{Audio|Ru-Ivan Grozny.ogg|listen}} (????? ????????, Ivan Grozny). During his life, Ivan IV was the wealthiest monarch in all of Europe.
