Islamic view of marriage
Marriage in Islam is considered to be of utmost importance. The Prophet of Islam, Muahammad, said that "Marriage is half of faith", and there are numerous hadiths lauding the importance of marraige and of family.

In Islam, marriage is a legal and social bond and contract between a man and a woman as prompted by the Shari'a. There are two types of marriages in Islam, the Nikah and the Nikah Mut'ah;
