Iodide
An iodide ion is an iodine atom with a -1 (negative one) charge. Compounds with iodine in formal oxidation state -1 are called iodides. This can include ionic compounds such as caesium iodide or covalent compounds such as carbon tetraiodide. This is the same naming scheme as is seen with chlorides and bromides. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Ion: : This article is about the electrically charged particle. For other uses of this word, see ion (disambiguation).... Charge: Charge is a word with many different meanings.... Oxidation state: In chemistry, the oxidation state is an indicator of the degree of oxidation of an atom in a chemical compound. The formal oxidation state is the hypothetical charge that an atom would have if all bonds to atoms of different elements were 100% ionic. Oxidation states are typically represented by in... | ~ Table of Content ~
